Sunday, July 8, 2012 Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks Results from Wall Stadium
by Robin ErvinWALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Microstock rookie Andrew Shuster claimed his first Modified Outlaw Micro Stock feature win Sunday at Wall Stadium by mere inches over defending champion Tom Ervin and veteran John Kazmierski.
Shuster started on the pole by virtue of winning his heat race. From the start Shuster had his hands full holding off both Ervin and John Kazmierski. Close behind them John Poulson looked to capitalize on any possible slip up that would allow him to challenge for the lead.
Lap after lap Shuster held off Ervin’s attempts at an outside pass. They were door-to-door several times but each time Shuster held him off. At the same time Kazmierski stayed locked on Shuster’s bumper and looked for a chance to make an inside pass for the lead. Just past halfway, Ervin changed tactics, he dropped behind Kazmierski and to attempted to pass Shuster on the inside as Kazmierski raced door to door on Shuster’s outside in a bid to take the lead.
As the white flag flew, the battle for the lead became a three-wide battle with Shuster in the middle. Shuster took the checkered flag by a nose over Ervin, who was just inches ahead of third place Kazmierski. Poulson rounded out the top four.
The Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks will return to action at Wall Stadium on July 15th. All Microstocks are welcome to participate.
