PERRY, N.Y. -- Tuff Toys Incorporated and Young Explosives presented the Firecracker Racing program at Wyoming County International Speedway as Fireworks on the track and in the air welcomed Independence Day. Don King of East Aurora, NY took home the checkered flag for his second win of the season in the SST Modifieds. Fairport, NY pilot and two-time defending track champion Phil Alhart Jr would win his third Super Stock race of the season and Tom Lalomia Jr from Getzville, NY won the 4 Cylinder feature event. Niagara Falls pilot Mark Loveland won the 10 lap invitational for the Western New York Vintage Late Model Stock Car Club.

Dick Kluth and Tom Wiest led the field of SST Modifieds to the green flag with Kluth getting out into the early advantage. Jimmy Zacharias started fifth in the Wilson Motorsports 18w and quickly moved up through the field and just before the fifth lap, Zacharias would take the lead away from Kluth. Wiest would bring out the first caution of the event after making contact with the turn two wall.

On the restart, Jimmy Zacharias took command of the field over Dick Kluth with Don King moving up through the field. King, in his VSP Marketing Group, Elegant Builders number 18 machine got around Kluth for second just past the halfway mark and started reeling in Zacharias.

King was able to get underneath Zacharias and passed him for the lead and went on to win the 30 lap feature event. Zacharias would finish second and Dick Kluth would complete the top three.

Cassie Logsdon and Ronnie Greek led the field of Super Stock to the green flag for their 25 lap feature event with Logsdon leading the opening lap. Logsdon held off the hard charging Austyn Fugle, Daniel Majchrzak, two time defending champion Phil Alhart Jr and Joe Mancuso all in the top five during the opening few circuits.

Ronnie Greek lost the handle of the Online Gun Sales.net number 28 and when he spun, Brad Collings had no where to go and hit Greek’s passenger side door. All drivers were alright and pulled to the pits under their own power.

On the restart it was Logsdon and Fugle leading the field back to starter James Mitchell’s green flag with Fugle taking over the lead. With Fugle getting loose just before halfway, Joe Mancuso took command of the field in his Mancuso Designs, Fullone Trucking number 64. Mancuso would hold off Phil Alhart and Daniel Majchrzak to claim what would appear to be his first win at the Bullring in 2012. However, Mancuso’s car was deemed illegal in post race tech as was fourth place finisher’s Austyn Fugle. As a result, Phil Alhart Jr scored his division leading third win of 2012. Daniel Majchrzak was awarded with a second place finish and Cassie Logsdon would complete the top three.

Mark Loveland and Rich Zellner finished first and second in the ten lap feature go for the Western New York Vintage Late Model Stock Car Club. After Loveland crossed the finish line, his transmission blown up and Loveland parked his machine in the infield grass for victory lane ceremonies. Zellner would finish second and Daniel Majchrzak would finish third and Dan Day would complete the field in his first appearance of the season.

Christine Hanel and Kevin Grom led the field of 4 Cylinders to the green flag in their 20 lap feature event with Grom getting out to the early race lead. Last Friday night’s feature winner Eric Hastreiter took the lead on lap two and was followed by heat winner Tom Lalomia Jr as he passed Grom for second.

Lalomia went right to work on Hastreiter as Lalomia took over the race lead on lap number seven in his Bainbridge Welding, Woodsmith Fencing Corp 8ball. Lalomia continued to show the way at the halfway mark over Hastreiter, Kevin Grom, Christine Hanel and Dakota Packman. With the leader pulling away, the battle was on for second between Hastreiter and Grom but neither one could reel in the Getzville pilot. Lalomia was able to hold off Hastreiter and Kevin Grom to pick up his second win of the season.

Join us next Friday night July 6th as it is Disco Night at the speedway. There will be Disco music and trivia throughout the evening presented by the Wolcott Brothers Music Store. The SST Modifieds, Super Stocks and 4 Cylinders will also be on the racing card. Gates open at 5:00pm for both the pits and the grandstands and racing will get underway at 7:30pm sharp.
