Whelen Presents Mobil 1 Late Model 150 Scheduled Saturday Night at South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. -- Racing action will return to South Boston Speedway on Saturday, June 16 when the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval will host the Whelen presents Mobil 1 Late Model 150 racing program.

The night of NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing action will begin at 7 p.m. and four races are scheduled at America?s Hometown Track as part of the event.

The featured attraction of the evening will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

One-time winner Matthew Bowling continues to lead the way in the chase for the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division championship at South Boston Speedway.

Bowling is 13 points ahead of former South Boston Speedway and NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion Peyton Sellers, who owns two wins this season at the four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

Lee Pulliam, who has surged of late and collected four wins at South Boston Speedway, is currently third in the standings and is just 34 points behind Sellers.

As part of Saturday?s event, South Boston Speedway will have a special observance with NASCAR Unites ? An American Salute. Active and non-active military personnel will be admitted free with proper military identification.

Speedway officials will also honor all fathers this weekend in recognition of Father?s Day on Sunday, June 17. All fathers will be admitted to the Saturday, June 16 event for the discounted price of $5.

Also featured as part of the Whelen presents Mobil 1 Late Model 150 racing program will be twin races for the Limited Sportsman Division.

Danny Willis Jr. is the points leader in the Limited Sportsman Division ranks, while Bobby McCarty sits in the second-place position.

Rounding out the night of racing on June 16 will be an event for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division. Trey Crews leads in the battle for the division?s championship; however, he is only five points ahead of Joe Allred, III.

Pit gates will open Saturday, June 16 at 1 p.m. Practice for all divisions will be held from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m.

Qualifying time trials for all divisions will get cranked up at 5:30 p.m.

Adult admission is $10. Youth, ages 7-12, will be admitted for $5 when accompanied by a paying adult and children ages six and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.
