Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Double Points and Tire Relay Race will Highlight the Action at GTRP
 by Joy GrahamBEAUMONT, Texas -- More great racing in the forecast as drivers go for double point this Friday, August 24, at Golden Triangle Raceway Park. All of the regular classes (except Modifieds) will compete.
During intermission there will be a Tire Relay Race. Five teams will compete in the event. Each team will be made up of two members from the grandstand and two members from the pits. This is always a fun event with prizes for all who participate.
The following drivers took victory lane bows last Friday at GTRP: Josh Ferguson, Modified; Bret Howland, Street Stock; Darrell Rhoades, Hobby Stock; Paul Vanderpool, Pure Stock; Dakota Hutto, Jr. Mini Stock.
Golden Triangle Raceway Park is located on W. Hwy. 90 between Beaumont and China, TX. Pit gates open early this week...5 P.M. and the grandstand opens at 6 P.M. Racing gets underway at 8:00. For more information about the Friday night races go to www.gtrpbmt.com or call 409-752-7200.
COMING SUNDAY, SEPT. 2…..The 5th annual Joe Graham Memorial Race for a Cure. A fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. Highlighting the Labor Day Event will be the final 2012 appearance of the ASCS Sprints and EMSA Mini Sprints with special bonus purses for the Limited Modifieds, Street and Hobby Stocks. Another special attraction that Sunday will be a Volkswagen car show and parade. One person per VW entered in that event will be admitted FREE to the races. There is no charge for being in the car show.
Race for a Cure T-shirts and raffle ticket are on sale now to help in the fight against cancer. They may be purchased at the track on race night or during the week at these three area businesses: Harris Muffler & Brake in Vidor, TX; Shear Power Beauty Salon in Beaumont and Buster’s Automotive Repair in Beaumont. Each raffle ticket sold ($2 each or 3 for $5) has at least 30 chances to win great prizes.
