RED BLUFF, Calif. -- Having enjoyed a great pavement late model season outdoors this summer, Steven Gannon turned a front row start into a win Saturday night in the Open Outlaw A Main as the Red Bluff Winter Indoor Season for the outlaw karts ran week 2 of the schedule. Opening night winner Robbie Whitchurch came from row 2 to finish second and 14th starting Eric Gannon battled his way to a third. Fifth quick Brett Miller ran third in the dash and 2nd in his heat, but he paced the entire length of the Open Intermediate feature race. He was quick to thank his father and grandfather for their help along with George Becker and Keith Berge. Miller is sponsored by CareFree Pools, CareFree Graphics, Frank-n-Sign, QRC, Earl Moore Enterprises and River City Pool Plastering. Brent Hamilton was second in the main event ahead of dash winner Chadd Noland. Santa Rosa’s Klint Simpson pocketed the A Main event win for the 125 Intermediate class as QRC All Star Tour point leader Rudger Worley ran second ahead of fast improving Christopher Phillips. Chase Hill outraced Derek Kennemore and opening night winner Keith Bloom Jr in the highly competitive Box Stock A Main. Recent Cycleland winner Cyle Allison picked off his first Red Bluff feature win in the A main for the Beginner Box Stock class. David Lee ran second ahead of Tyler Seavey. Clarence Marshall continued his complete domination of the new F200 class with fast time and wins in the dash, heat and feature. Jeremy Zirkle was second in the main event.

The Open Outlaw class had a strong 49 kart turnout this week and Fort Jones CA long tow Matt Menne posted quick time with his 8.900 lap. USAC Ford Focus Midget star Ryan Kaplan was second quick at 8.939 and Bryan Eady ran a 8.971 lap. Kirk Simpson was the final 8 second entrant at 8.977. Seventh quick Richard Weststeyn from Oregon was added to the dash lineup and he won that event over Pete Johnston and Kyle Cattanach. Five heat races transferred just the top 2 finishers into the A Main action. Johnston beat 16th fast timer S Gannon in heat 1 with Tyler Schaaf edging out Cycleland champion Daniel Becker in heat 2. David Tarter won heat 3 over Eady and David Wilson outraced Keith Hill and Ryan Foster in heat 4. Michael Hubert III and Whitchurch advanced out of heat 5. This left four transfer slots from a highly competitive B Main and Cattanach won that event over Kaplan, Sean Becker and E Gannon. Just missing the move forward were Tyler McCain and Josh Chartier. Oregon’s Joe Weststeyn won the C Main ahead of Jeremy Webb and Scott Burgess. Newlywed Beau Perkins beat Kirk Simpson and Menne in the D Main and Shelby Blaisdell captured the E Main ahead of Andy Cumpton and Wayne Fisher. The six fastest to advance from the heat action were inverted at the front of the A Main grid and that put Schaaf and S Gannon in row 1 ahead of K Hill, Whitchurch, Johnston and Eady. S Gannon was first to the checkered flag ahead of Whitchurch, E Gannon, Johnston, S Becker, Wilson, Cattanach and Eady.

There were 16 Open Intermediates with Tyler Ritcheson the quickest at 9.076. Hamilton ran a 9.126 and female ace Reyna Krueger clicked off a 9.143. Justin Reinolds and B Miller completed the quick five. Sixth quick Noland from Oregon won the dash with Reinolds second ahead of Miller. Jerryd Stanley enjoyed one of his best nights with 7th quick time and a win in the first heat over B Miller and Ritcheson. Micah Parmer beat Reinolds and Noland in heat 2. The ten fastest qualifiers got the top ten heat race spots so the six kart inversion put Noland and Miller in the front row. Miller led all the way for the feature win ahead of Hamilton, Noland, Cody Braund, Reinolds, Parmer, William Lyons and Steven Rogers.

Kyle Larson was the quickest of the 24 125’s with a 9.012 lap. Dillon Silverman remains a red hot qualifier with his 9.033 effort and Worley was third quick at 9.159. Feature winner Klint Simpson ranked fourth at 9.161 and Derek Copeland was fifth. Copeland took the dash ahead of Michael Forslund and Larson. The field was split into three heat races and Mason Moore won the first ahead of Simpson and Larson. Lakeport’s Shane Theis won heat 2 over Copeland and Robert Marcos. Derek O’Bannon captured heat 3 ahead of Worley and Shane Graham. Those nine drivers advanced into the A Main allowing five more to come from the B Main. Michael Forslund won the B Main in front of Silverman, Phillips, Jonny Lentz and Jacob Park. Nevada’s MacKena Bell broke a motor in the B Main. Simpson battled to the win in the A Main with Worley second ahead of back of the pack starters Phillips and Silverman. O’Bannon claimed fifth and Larson overcame a right front flat tire to place sixth ahead of Moore and Copeland.

The Box Stocks had another big 35 kart field and Tyler Reddick paced time trials with his 9.906 lap. Andy Menne ran a 9.948 to just nip the 9.949 of C Hill. Cycleland champion Brad Patchen and Bloom were the final 9 second qualifiers. Sixth quick Andrew Anderson from Ukiah won the dash with Bloom second ahead of C Hill. Four heat races and the top 3 from each moved forward. Bloom beat young Jacob Miller in heat 1 and Raymond Close outdueled Anderson in heat 2. Jason Mittry won heat 3 over C Hill and Jesse Taylor outraced Riley Gomes from McKinleyville in heat 4. Four more transfers came from the highly competitive B Main and Reddick won that event ahead of Patchen, Doug Kennemore and Jonathan Hoheisel. Doug Kennemore had won the C Main in front of James Crowell and Leana Kenyon. C Hill was the second fastest qualifier to advance out of the heat action so his A Main win came from the third row with Derek Kennemore coming from behind the inversion to place second ahead of Bloom. Gomes ran fourth ahead of J Miller, Anderson, Doug Kennemore and Reddick. The Beginner Box Stock class at Red Bluff is a mix of experienced racers and raw newcomers. Nevada’s Kellcy Bell posted quick time for a 21 kart field at 10.998. That easily paced the 11.142 of Tyler Seavey with Allison third quick at 11.270. Logan Seavey ran a 11.424 and Logan Taylor a a 11.456. Taylor beat Allison and K Bell in the dash. Allison won heat 1 with David Lee second ahead of K Bell. T Seavey outraced Tony Marcos and Devin Lee in heat 2. Wesley Dougherty was the B Main winner in front of Katina Baker, Taylor and James Edens. Allison then captured the A Main with David Lee second ahead of T Seavey, K Bell, opening night winner Thomas Bellamy, Dougherty, L Seavey and Taylor. The F200 class had the same four entrants as week one. Marshall clicked off a 10.110 lap to easily beat the 10.611 of Zirkle and Kevin Seavey’s 10.623 for fast time honors. Gary Gabel was second to Marshall in the dash and K Seavey ran second in the heat. Marshall won the main event ahead of Zirkle, Gabel and K Seavey.
