RED BLUFF, Calif. -- By beating new track record holder Jonny Lentz in the 125 Intermediate A Main, former QRC All Star Tour Box Stock champion Kyle Larson from Elk Grove will carry a 50 point lead into the final 3 races on the 2003-2004 Winter Indoor schedule for the Red Bluff Outlaw Karts. Larson was second quick and ran second in his heat prior to his feature win. Lentz lowered the 125 Intermediate track record all the way down to 8.358 and added a second in the feature. Mason Moore used a third place run to climb within 8 points of point runnerup Rudger Worley, the QRC All Star Tour champion. Keith Bloom Jr added to his Box Stock point lead with a win in their A Main ahead of Cycleland champion Brad Patchen and a season best third for Seth Nunes. It is obvious that the Beginner Box Stock championship will go right down to the final night on Feb 21 as Carson City NV's Kellcy Bell won her second straight A Main, but ended the night just 14 points in front of consistent Cyle Allison. Allison was third in the feature race behind Jake Morgan and earlier managed to beat time trial dominator Bell in the timed runs. Paul Baker continued his domination of the new F200 class feature action as he won the main event ahead of point leader Clarence Marshall and second ranked Jeremy Zirkle.

Lentz has become a great qualifier and he paced 23 125's with his 8.358 clocking. Larson ran a 8.510 and improving Dillon Silverman posted a 8.524. Worley and M Moore were also in the 8.5 bracket. Sixth quick Mackena Bell, the older sister of the Beginner Box Stock winner, took the dash honors ahead of Worley and Silverman. The top three finishers from each of the three heat races advanced and Worley won heat 1 over Cody Miler. Derek O'Bannon beat Larson and M Moore in heat 2 and Shane Graham won heat 3 ahead of Silverman and Amanda Reinolds, younger sister of Open Intermediate point leader Justin Reinolds. This left five transfer spots from the B Main and M Bell won that ahead of Ryan Gomes, QRC All Star Tour Box Stock champion Derek Copeland and Allie Moore. Larson then charged to the A Main win with Lentz second ahead of M Moore, O'Bannon, Worley, M Bell, Copeland and A Reinolds. Lentz recent runs have climbed him into fourth in points, just 12 ahead of Silverman. The season will end with events on Feb 7, 14 and 21 after a break for the annual Bull Sale.

Jason Mittry was the quickest of 32 Box Stocks with his 9.628 lap. Nicholas Bellamy was just a tick back at 9.669. Chase Hill ran 9.790 and the other 9 second qualifiers were Tyler Reddick, Nunes, Jacob Miller, Jesse Red and Doug Kennemore. Hill beat Mittry and Reddick in the dash. The top 3 finishers in the four heat races moved into the main event. Patchen beat Casey McClain in heat 1 and Tristan Miller beat Bloom to the checkered flag in heat 2. Andrew Anderson and Hill were 1-2 in heat 3 and Derek Kennemore outraced Dustin Jenkins in heat 4. The Box Stock B Main is always one of the most competitive races of the day and Mittry won ahead of Red, Wyatt Pruittt, Doug Kennemore and Jonathan Hoheisel. Mallorie McGahan beat David Chaves in the C Main. Because they race so clean, Red Bluff allows the Box Stocks to have 16 starters in their A Main and Bloom Jr was the main event winner ahead of Patchen, Nunes, 13th starter Mittry, Red, Reddick, Bellamy and McClain.

Just over 20 Beginner Box Stocks entered and Allison was the quickest at 11.253. An incredibly tight battle for second quick found four racers separated by just .007 seconds. Thomas Bellamy ran a 11.330, Wesley Dougherty a 11.332, K Bell a 11.336 and Logan Taylor a 11.337. Both David Lee and Morgan ran 11.366 laps. Taylor won the dash from his front row start as Dougherty beat Allison for second. Taylor also won heat one and other heat wins went to Lee, Morgan and K Bell. Dougherty settled for third in his heat, but won the B Main ahead of Tyler Seavey and Logan Seavey. Rookie Keyler Heinze got the final transfer slot. K Bell then won the main event ahead of Morgan, Allison, Dougherty, Lee, Bellamy, T Seavey and Tony Marcos. T Seavey stayed in contention for the track title as he is just 46 points back of point leader K Bell with the three races remaining. Taylor is fourth in points, 13 ahead of Bellamy.

Baker usually doesn't show his strength in the preliminary action and that was the case this week again as he timed in sixth quick, ran sixth in the dash and fourth in the heat for the 10 F200's. Marshall got fast time with his 10.234, Alyssa Hogan ran a 10.363 and point runnerup Zirkle a 10.504. Keaven Seavey won the dash ahead of Zirkle and Marshall was the heat winner ahead of Kenny Bellamy and Zirkle. Baker continues to be untouchable in the feature action as he won ahead of Marshall, Zirkle, Gary Gabel, James Matson and Melissa Morgan. Marshall's point lead is 54 over Zirkle and 109 ahead of Seavey. Gabel is fourth in points.
