Saturday, February 14, 2004 Four drivers repeat Red Bluff wins
by Race AuthorRED BLUFF, Calif. -- Running out of time in his attempt to overtake Kyle Larson for the 125 Intermediate division championship, QRC All Star Tour champion Rudger Worley won his second straight A Main Saturday night as the Red Bluff Indoor Winter Season staged it's next to last race of the 2003-2004 schedule. Worley gained a few points on Larson by timing in 4th quick, placing second in the dash and his heat before winning the main event. Larson was fifth quick and won his heat race, but had to make quick repairs after being forced into the fence in the dash by dash winner Noel McCormack. Larson ran second in the main event behind Worley and ahead of fast timer Dillon Silverman. Fast timer Chase Hill won his second straight Box Stock A Main, but it wasn't easy as a 4th place heat run forced him into the B Main. Hill won the B Main and then battled from 13th starting to take the A Main honors ahead of Doug Kennemore and Tyler Reddick. Gaining the lead when leaders Jake Morgan and Kellcy Bell tangled, Logan Taylor won his second straight Beginner Box Stock A Main with Wesley Dougherty second ahead of Cyle Allison. Bell rebounded from her flip in the incident to charge back to 4th and her duel with Allison for this track title will go right down to the final night. F200 point leader Clarence Marshall made it two straight wins in their feature race after earlier setting fast time. Keaven Seavey was second ahead of James Matson.
Having moved over to a QRC built kart, Silverman set fast time for the 25 125's with his 8.557 lap. Time trial expert Jonny Lentz was second quick at 8.587 and Lakeport champion McCormack had a second straight impressive Red Bluff night with third quick honors. Worley, Larson and Ryan Gomes rounded out the dash qualifiers. McCormack won the dash ahead of Worley and apologized to Larson for their dash incident. Doing double duty by making his Open Intermediate debut, Nevada female racer Mackena Bell won heat 1 ahead of Worley and Silverman. Larson beat Camron Mendes and Lentz in heat 2 and Derek Copeland won heat 3 ahead of Gomes and Andrew Wiley. The top three advanced from each heat race and that placed McCormack on the pole for the B Main. McCormack won that race ahead of the division debut for Tristan Miller. Shane Graham was third ahead of Michael Forslund. Dillon Aldred won a small C Main ahead of Jacob Park and Ashley Eiler. Worley not only won the A Main, but had the quickest lap with a 8.696 clocking. Larson ran second and had a 8.828 best lap. Silverman broke into the 8's and placed third ahead of Gomes, M Bell, Copeland and Lentz.
The red hot Hill outtimed the 33 Box Stocks with his 9.841 lap. Jason Mittry ran a 9.974 and Jesse Red was third quick ahead of point leader Keith Bloom Jr, Reddick and Jacob Miller. Outside front row starter Reddick won the dash ahead of Bloom and J Miller. In this division, the top 3 finishers advance from the four heat races. Doug Kennemore beat Dustin Jenkins in heat 1 and Leana Kenyon had her best run of the season with a win in heat 2 over Casey McClain. Nicholas Bellamy and Red were 1-2 in heat 3 and Seth Nunes beat Bloom in heat 4. Hill won the B Main ahead of J Miller, Andy Menne and Andrew Anderson. Just missing the transfer were Derek Kennemore and Braedon Enos. David Chaves was the C Main winner ahead of Trevor Tennison and Bryanna Powers. With a quick lap of 9.821, Hill battled from 13th starting to win the A Main. Doug Kennemore ran second and Reddick was third. Reddick had the quickest time in the feature with a 9.702. Anderson came from last starting to finish fourth ahead of McClain, Kenyon, J Miller and Red.
In the Beginner Box Stocks, Nevada's K Bell set fast time for the 11th time in the 13 races as she ran an 11.196 lap. That easily paced the 11.406 of second quick Morgan. Allison ranked third at 11.519 and Dougherty was fourth ahead of Logan Seavey. This division had 24 entries. In the dash, K Bell came from sixth starting to win with Dougherty second ahead of Morgan. Only the top two transfer in the four heat races for this class. L Seavey won heat 1 over Thomas Bellamy. Chase Majdic and Morgan were 1-2 in heat 2 and Allison beat David Lee in heat 3. Taylor won heat 4 ahead of Tony Marcos. Bell was fourth behind Lakeport champion James Edens in heat 1 and had to race in the B Main. Bell won the B Main ahead of Tyler Seavey, Dougherty and Alyssa Rose as Edens and Keyler Heinze just missed transfers. Another Lakeport racer Jeremy Doss won the C Main ahead of Katina Baker and Heinze. In the A Main, Bell started 9th, but raced up to 2nd behind leader Morgan in the first ten rounds. Midway through the action, Morgan clipped the fence and spun. With no place to go, Bell crashed into the side of Morgan and flipped twice before landing upsidedown. Bell restarted in the rear and battled her way back to a 4th place finish. Taylor scored his second straight win ahead of 11th starter Dougherty and Allison. Majdic ran fifth ahead of T Seavey and David Lee. Bell's 10.662 was the quickest feature lap and Allison had a 10.792. Both winner Taylor and crash victim Morgan had laps in the 10.8 second bracket. Bell will carry a 15 point lead over Allison into the season finale on Feb 21.
The new F200 class had their biggest turnout of the season with 15 in action. Marshall was quick timer at 10.286 and Mike Larson jumped into the Melissa Morgan entry and timed second quick at 10.445. Jeremy Zirkle had a 10.520 and Alyssa Hogan was fourth ahead of Justin Reinolds, who timed in the kart that Larson usually races. Hogan beat Zirkle and division newcomer Mike Doss in the dash. Doss is an accomplished pavement tour car racer and the father of Beginner Box Stock racer Jeremy Doss. Ashley Lusk posted a heat race win. Larson looked like he was headed to a feature win in his borrowed ride, but lost his chain with just 3 laps left in the main event and Marshall won a second straight race ahead of Keaven Seavey, Matson, Doss, Zirkle, Kevin Acosta, Mike Lovell and Hogan.
