RED BLUFF, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2002) - Matt Menne, a track regular despite having to often make the long tow from Fort Jones in bad weather, won Saturday night’s 20 lap A Main for the Open Intermediate division as the Red Bluff Indoor Winter Season continued. Track title hopeful Chad Widener ran second ahead of Michael Tarter. The tight fight in the Beginner Box Stock class had quickly evolved into a two way fight between Casey McClain and Tyler Reddick, but it was Redding’s Jason Mittry picking off this week’s 25 lap A Main. McClain ran second while Reddick settled for a 6th place run.

Garet Morton surprised by posting fast time for the 22 Open Intermediate entries with his 9.030 lap. There was actually a rare tie for fast time as the transponder scoring allows the time trial session to actually be a multi-lap hot lap session with your best lap counting. Michael Tarter also ran a 9.030 lap, but did it later in his session. Justin Reinolds was just a tick back at 9.038 as Tyler Richeson, David Wilson and Michael Hubert III were also in the 9.0 bracket. Wilson beat Morton in the dash. Menne had timed just outside the dash in 7th, but won the first heat in a near photo over the other point lead contender Cody Braund with Wilson third. Widener edged out Cycleland champion Quintin Crye in heat 2. T Richeson captured the 20 lap B Main with Taylor Simas a half-second back in second. Austin VanKeuren ran third ahead of Hubert, A J Kerns and Brandon Aldred. The 20 lap A Main had 14 starters and 12 finished lead lap with both Simas and Crye dropping out after 14 laps of action. Menne beat Widener in the feature with Tarter just 0.8 seconds behind the winner in third. Braund ran fourth ahead of Wilson, VanKeuren, Micah Parmer, Michael Helwig and T Richeson.

There were 38 Beginner Box Stock entries and the dash honors went to McClain ahead of Jonathan Hoheisel and Reddick. Cameron Bartlett beat Tristan Miller in heat 1 with Mittry scoring a win in heat 2 over Hoheisel. Tyler Seavey and Kaylee Eiler were 1-2 in the third heat and Oregon’s Seth Nunes beat Jacob Miller in heat 4. This beginner class limits their features to 12 entries so only two karts advance out of each heat and they are joined by four transfers from the 20 lap B Main. Both Reddick and McClain were forced to run the B, but they ran 1-2 with McClain winning. Thomas Bellamy ran third ahead of Wyatt Pruitt and Trevor Tennison. It was a busy night for Pruitt as he also advanced through the C and D Main action. Pruitt won the D Main ahead of Braedon Enos and Sean Martin. Pruitt then ran second to David Lee in the 15 lap C Main with Tennison third ahead of Wyatt Finley and Nevada’s Jay Primm. The top 9 finishers in the 25 lap A Main finsihed lead lap with the next 3 all one lap down. Mittry won by a solid 2.5 seconds over McClain with third place Hoheisel nearly 1/2 lap back. Bartlett ran fourth ahead of Nunes, Reddick, T Bellamy, Eiler and T Seavey.
