RED BLUFF, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2002) - Staying up with his point leading older brother, Daniel Becker won the 30 lap A Main for the Open Outlaw Karts Saturday night as the Red Bluff Winter Indoor season finished off five straight weeks of racing. After a two week break for the Thanksgiving holiday, racing will return with shows on the first two Saturdays in December. Jason Webb ran second with point leader Sean Becker third ahead of 2nd ranked Brian McCain. The Open Intermediate class has the tightest point race and Justin Reinolds won their 30 lap A Main with a solid 2 second margin on runnerup Matt Menne. Cody Braund ran third and ended the night in a tie for the point lead with Chad Widener. Napa’s Richard Bailey is running the entire Red Bluff schedule for the first time and he was rewarded with a win in the 30 lap A Main for the 125 Intermediate class. He was a half-second in front of Cody Miler as Nic Helwig ran third. Fourth place finisher Matt DiBenedetto has a 2 point lead over Brett Miller in a tight track title fight. Keith Bloom Jr won the Box Stock A Main with Raymond Close 2nd. Season dominator Brian Southers ran fourth and holds a 23 point lead on Bloom. Wyatt Pruitt from Shasta Lake got his first Beginner Box Stock A Main win as Nicholas Bellamy ran second ahead of Trevor Tennison. 8th place finisher Casey McClain holds a 6 point lead over fifth place finisher Tyler Reddick.

B McCain was the quickest of the 39 Open Outlaws with his 8.762 lap. Kyle Cattanach ran a 8.802 and Steven Gannon a 8.813. The quickest 16 karts were all in the 8 second bracket. Fifth fast S Becker won the dash ahead of S Gannon and Tyler Schaaf. With the smaller kart turnout, a four heat format was used with three karts transferring from each into the 30 lap A Main. D Becker won the first ahead of B McCain. Beau Perkins and C W Tiner were 1-2 in heat 2 and Bubba Hill outran Clint York in heat 3. Oregon’s Brandon Farquhar took heat 4 ahead of Jason Webb. The B Main determined the final four transfers into the A Main and Schaaf won ahead of Kyle Hirst, Ryan Foster and Todd Carmichael, who was returning to kart action after a long absence. Just missing the move forward were Robbie Whitchurch and Gannon. Gannon had earlier won the C Main in front of Cattanach, David Lewallen and Paul Gunsauls. The 30 lap A Main had 16 starters. Mitch Mootz was out after just four rounds, but the remaining 15 all finished lead lap. D Becker won ahead of Jason Webb, S Becker, B McCain, Cycleland champion Ryan Kaplan, Perkins, Foster, Hirst and York. S Becker’s point lead is 12 over B McCain and 13 ahead of feature winner D Becker.

Austin VanKeuren paced the 20 Open Intermediates with his 8.812 lap. Widener clicked off a 8.823 and Reinolds a 8.842. Micah Parmer, Menne and David Wilson were also in the 8 second bracket. Wilson beat Menne in the dash. Cycleland champion Quintin Crye won the first heat with Michael Hubert III second ahead of VanKeuren. Braund won heat 2 in front of Parmer and Wilson. Oregon’s Joe Weststeyn won the B Main in front of Michael Tarter and Cody Brown. Tarter and Hubert both failed to finish the 30 lap A Main where Reinolds won ahead of Menne, Braund, Michael Helwig, Crye, Wilson, VanKeuren and Taylor Simas. While Braund and 9th place finisher Widener are tied for the point lead, Crye is just 2 points back. Wilson is 12 points out of the point lead and just one point ahead of Parmer.

Oregon’s Chadd Noland paced 26 125’s with his 8.946 lap. Chris Webber ran a 9.031 and Steven Rogers a 9.068. Sixth quick Nic Helwig won the dash over Brett Miller and Noland. Derek O’Bannon beat Bailey and Noland in heat 1. Tyler Wolf won heat 2 over Alan Ambers and Rogers. B Miller beat C Miller and Ryan Gomes in heat 3. Only managing a 4th in his heat, point leader DiBenedetto got into the A Main with a win in the B Main ahead of Brent Hamilton and N Helwig. Bailey got the narrow win over C Miller in the 30 lap A Main with N Helwig one second back of the winner in third. DiBenedetto ran fourth over O’Bannon, Wolf, Hamilton, B Miller and Mason Moore. DiBenedetto ended the night with a 2 point lead on B Miller with N Helwig 15 points out of first. Bailey is fourth in points, 24 behind the point leader.

Derek Copeland was the quickest of the 30 Box Stocks with a 9.803 lap. Dustin Jenkins ran a 9.866 and Jonny Lentz a 9.914. Fourth fast James Crowell won the dash with Jenkins second ahead of Bloom. Four heat races transferred three and Copeland won the first heat ahead of Close and Oregon’s Cory Lyon. Defending track champion Derek Kennemore won heat 2 with point leader Southers second ahead of Bloom. Lentz beat Nevada’s Mackena Bell and Dillon Silverman in heat 3 while Crowell won heat 4 ahead of Cycleland champion Kyle Larson. Chase Hill won the B Main with Nevada’s Jennifer Purcell second ahead of Andrew Anderson. Shane Graham had won the C Main in front of Brad Patchen. Bloom took A Main honors ahead of Close, Lentz, Southers, Silverman, Crowell, Larson and Bell. Bloom has managed to stay within 23 points of Southers with Derek Kennemore now 42 points back. Kennemore is just 2 points ahead of Larson.

Six year old Tyler Reddick paced the 35 Beginner Box Stock entries with his 10.871 qualifying run. Nicholas Bellamy ran a 11.184 and McClain a 11.189. Reddick and McClain were 1-2 in the dash. This class limits their feature races to just 12 karts so they take just 2 transfers from four heat races. Thomas Bellamy won heat 1 ahead of Reddick. N Bellamy won heat 2 in front of newcomer Jonathan Hoheisel. McClain took heat 3 ahead of Jason Mittry. Kenny Allen and Pruitt were 1-2 in heat 4. Tennison captured the B Main ahead of Tony Marcos and Kaylee Eiler. Cameron Bartlett won the C Main with Bryce Perry second ahead of Eiler. Tanner Thomson and Jake Morgan were 1-2 in the D Main action. Pruitt’s first A Main win saw N Bellamy second ahead of Tennison, Hoheisel, Reddick, T Bellamy and Mittry. McClain ran 8th and hung onto his six point lead over Reddick. N Bellamy is a distant third in points, 66 behind the point leader.
