Volunteer Speedway Offers $5 Grandstand Admission June 16 for 'Fan Appreciation Night at The Gap'

BULLS GAP, Tenn. -- A $5 bill won't even buy you a fast-food combo meal nowadays. But Saturday, June 16 at Volunteer Speedway for just $5 you will be admitted into the grandstands for the always popular Fan Appreciation Night at The Gap.

There will be twin 20-lap features for the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Pro (Crate) Late Models, along with Modified Hobby (25 laps) and Open Wheel Modified (20 laps) racing action on the high banks.

Prior to the evening of racing, fans will be allowed to come down onto the front straightaway and into the infield pit area to have a "meet-and-greet" session with all the drivers and to get an up-close look at the race cars. Drivers' will have goodies to hand out representing themselves and their sponsors (photos, race cards, keychains, buttons, hats, T-shirts and candy) to the fans.

Also, throughout the night the track will have many prize giveaways to distribute to lucky fans in attendance such as gift certificates to Applebee's, Fatz Cafe, Putt-Putt Golf of Kingsport and Bristol, Mr. Golf; along with merchandise from O'Reilly's Auto Parts and several other local businesses.

"Ever since we held our first Fan Appreciation Night back 11 years ago it's evolved into one of our most anticipated night's of racing each year," said track owner Joe Loven. "It's exciting just sitting up in the grandstands watching the cars race around the high banks. But to get the opportunity to go down on the track and walk around and see how steeply banked the turns are, plus getting to look the race cars over and meet the drivers, it's very special to many people. It just gives the fans a totally different perspective of what actually occurs on a race-night when they get to go down and walk on the track and meet the drivers and talk with them.

"The economy currently isn't in the greatest shape and there are quite a few people around the East Tennessee region who are unemployed. To be able attend a night of good dirt-track racing action for only $5, that's definitely affordable and is a really good bargain for all the race fans. I truly believe everyone who attends Fan Appreciation Night will really enjoy themselves. We pride ourselves at 'The Gap' for offering family-oriented entertainment, and offering $5 grandstand admission on Fan Appreciation Night is just our way of saying thank you for all of your support throughout the racing season."

Adult grandstand admission for Fan Appreciation Night is only $5, with kids 10-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $25, regardless of age.

The pit gate will open Saturday, June 16 at 4 p.m. and the grandstand gate opens at 5 p.m. The drivers' meeting will be held in the backside pits around 6:30 p.m.

On-track Fan Appreciation Night activities are scheduled to take place for approximately one-hour, from 6:45 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. After a break to allow everyone to get back up into the grandstands and for the racers to get their cars back up into the outside pits to quickly prepare them for the night of racing, hotlaps are set to begin around 8:15 p.m. to be followed by qualifying and then racing action.

Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers all about racing at Volunteer Speedway. You can't beat the excitement of an action-packed night of racing at 'The Gap!'

No coolers or outside food allowed to be brought into the front straightaway (main) grandstand! Coolers are permitted in the pit area and the backstretch tier-parking ' however no glass containers allowed.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left.

North on Interstate 81 from I-81/I-40 split (East of Knoxville, TN), take Exit 23, then turn left onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Continue underneath the interstate over-pass and track entrance approximately 300 yards ahead on left.

*** Once again this year for Fan Appreciation Night at The Gap, Dean Jones with Primetime Designs, the official souvenir vendor at Volunteer Speedway, plans on creating a T-shirt for purchase so fans can get driver autographs. Be sure each week at the track to stop by a Primetime Designs location, either atop the front straightaway grandstands or in the backside pits beside the concession stand.
