Saturday, October 5, 2002 Defebo top qualifier for “King of the Mountain”
 by Race AuthorST. JOHNS, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2002) - The Modified and Late Model divisions ran time trials, attempt to qualify for tomorrow's running of the 3rd annual King of the Mountain at Mountain Speedway.
Brian Defebo was the 10th car to attempt qualifying, turning in a quick lap of 13.829 in Modified time trials, to sit in the pole for tomorrow afternoons 100 lap feature.
Chris Hamilton attempted qualifying late in the order, setting the fast lap for the Late Model feature, with a lap of 14.577. The other top 5 qualifiers are Joe Hoffman, Mike Odwazny, Larry Fisher, and Alan Moyer.
Both the Street Stocks and Factory Stocks ran heat races to qualify. Brian Sheard, Bob Ankner, and Brad Kline were the Street Stock heat winners. Shaun Burd and Jared Aigeldinger took the Factory Stock heats.
Four divisions will be competing for the title of King of the Mountain. The 100 lap Modified feature will headline the 3rd running of the special event at the speedway. The Late Models, Street Stocks, and Factory Stocks will also be racing. Pit gates open at 10am, and warm-ups begin at 12:30pm. Driver that failed to qualify yesterday, can attempt qualifying from the consi races that will start the show. Admission to the grandstands will be $15 adult, $10 seniors, $5 child 11 & under.
