ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Event at Orange County Rained Out; Event will be Made up August 22 ROUGEMONT, N.C. -- The ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour’s “RC Cola / MoonPie 100” at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC crowned one winner on Saturday night – Mother Nature. Persistent rain showers just before the evening’s races were scheduled to begin forced the series to postpone the event to Saturday night, August 22nd.
“We really wanted to get the race in because our drivers towed a long way for this race, but with the rains coming, there was nothing we could do,” said ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Operations Manager Micky Cain. “The first rain shower came through and our series officials, along with track workers, did the best they could to get the track dry. But as soon as the track was ready to get some racecars on it, more rain came through and more was forming behind it. We had no choice but to just call the event and come back in August.”
Due to local ordinances, along with previously scheduled events and prior commitments of Orange County Speedway and its staff, the race could not be made up on Sunday. Therefore, the event had to be rescheduled to the August 22nd date.
Series officials are encouraging teams to keep their armbands from the event and use them again in August.
The next event for the series will be the Gateway 100 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on July 25.
A full schedule of events for that race will be posted on the ASA SAT website, www.asasoutheastasphalttour.com, in the near future.
