Wednesday, August 15, 2012 Pits Open Early for Manitowoc Badger Mod Tour Show August 23

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The pit area will be open at 1 p.m. on Thursday August 23 at Manitowoc County Expo for the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Floors By Design & Directional Drilling Services Fair race.
"We're opening the pits up early so the teams can get secure their pit stalls and come out and enjoy the Manitowoc County Fair before they race," said Dan Newberg, chairman of the Expo's Entertainment and Vendors Committee for the Fair. "We've got a lot of good buzz going about this event and we're pretty excited about it."
Pit passes will be $25.00 and will get you into the fair. That price does not include the carnival rides. Spectator admission is only $10.00 and that price does include carnival rides, parking and your ticket to the Badger Mod Tour race, with a stout field of street stocks also expected.
Drivers who tow the furthest to compete in both the street stock and BMT will each put an extra $100 bill in their pockets Thursday courtesy of Newberg.
To date, 86 drivers from four states have competed in the BMT. Seymour veteran Brian Mullen is the current BMT points leader. He holds an 8 point lead over the "Neosho Nightmare" Mitch McGrath. The second generation driver has been hot on the Tour, scoring back-to-back series wins at Dodge County Fairgrounds and Beaver Dam Raceway, respectively. Juneau's Russ Reinwald is third 15 points out of first, Horicon's Jeremy Christians fourth 27 points out of first with Beaver Dam's Craig Priewe 35 points out of first.
The entire race program that night will be run by the staff of 141 Speedway, including track preparation. Merle Lisowe, Bruce Conard and Ryan Collins will oversee the preparation of the clay oval. "We are keeping it to two classes, and our focus is the get the show done in a timely manner so folks can get out that same night and enjoy the Manitowoc County fair," said Conard.
It will wrap up a busy week for the BMT as just two nights prior, Tuesday, August 21 the Tour heads to Oshkosh Speedzone.
The street stocks will throw down for a $500 top prize.
