RICE LAKE, Wis. -- The final round of the Wissota Challenge Series for Late Models will be held on Wednesday, August 25th at the Rice Lake Speedway. The Challenge Series has visited a number of race tracks in the Wissota region and the Rice Lake event will see a champion crowned as well as deliver the largest payoff of the series.

Currently, John Kaanta leads the Tri Star Engine Supply Challenge Series point standings but he is being closely pursued by Pat Doar. They have a substantial lead on Joel Cryderman and Leon Plank but if the top two should falter, the point race could tighten up quickly as the Challenge Series visits tracks in Aberdeen and Huron South Dakota and well as Jamestown North Dakota before they wrap things up at Rice Lake.

Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous, to this point, benefactor, the final race at Rice Lake will pay a Challenge Series record $5,000 to the winner of the fourty lap main event.

Fourty or more of the best late models in Wissota are expected to be on hand to contest the big prize with drivers from North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada expected to challenge the best of the Rice Lake regulars. The Tri Star Challenge Series finale is sponsored by Coors Light and Pepsi.

Also on the program August 25th will be the Street Stock Little Dream race. This race, traditionally one of the highest paying street stock races in all of Wissota, is dependent on spectator and business contributions to raise the payoff and last year over $1,800 was contributed by businesses and individuals as defending champion Terry Sirek took home over $1,600 for his win. The winner is guaranteed $500 for the win by the speedway but the actual purse, not only for the winner but all the finishing positions, is flexible depending upon contributions. The Little Dream race is sponsored by Buzz Signs & Graphics.

The Rice Lake Speedway is a third mile, banked clay track located one mile north of Rice Lake midway between state highway 48 and Barron Co. SS. The gates open at 4 p.m. with the first race to take the green at 7 p.m. The raindate for this program is August 26th.
