CANAAN, N.H. -- The first ever midweek appearance by the Sprint Cars of New England will take place at the Canaan Dirt Speedway on Tuesday July 3.

Former Canaan Dirt Late Model Champ Donnie Lashua, who currently races both Late Models and Pro Stocks on pavement, will make his debut in a Sprint Car as part of the Independence Day extravaganza. “I’m happy to have this opportunity to drive one of these rocket ships, exclaimed Lashua and I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Sprint Car. I want to thank Dick Therrien, Mike Kondrat, Si Allen and the entire SCoNE organization for getting me this ride.”

The 2012 season has been uncommonly competitive for SCoNE, with five events in the books there have been five different feature wins. Champions Shawn Lawler, Chris Donnelly and Dan Douville have joined first timers Will Hull and Shawn Berry in picking up the checkers. Full fields and from-the-back racing have been SCoNE’s stock and trade this season.

The big event gets underway on Tuesday at 7:00 pm and includes Twin 20’s for the Modifieds paying $1,000 to win or $1,300 if a driver wins both twenty lap segments and the overall award.

The Modifieds and the SCoNE Sprint Cars will each be vying for the coveted Coastal 181 cup, sponsored by racing publisher Lew Boyd and coastal181.com. Also on tap are the Super Streets, the Bombers and a chain race, plus a giant fireworks display to wrap up the evening and wish America a Happy Birthday. Adult admission is just $12, Juniors and Seniors are $10, while Kids 11 and under are free.
