WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- 2010 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Champion, #7 Bryan Wordelman picked up a win tonight in the Maverik Modifieds at Rocky Mountain Raceways.

Starting in fourth Wordelman methodically made his way to first by lap 13, holding off #50 Roger Wilson in second and #20 Dan McCoy in third. Wilson put the pressure on Wordelman looking for his third main event win of the 2012 season.

Wordelman held fast to his lead throughout the second half-of the 50 lap main. A caution in lap 40 brought the field together for a double-file restart. Wordelman went to the inside maintaining his lead for the remainder of the race.

This is Wordelman’s first win since the Torch 100 race in September of 2010. In addition to racing in the Maverik Modified class at Rocky Mountain Raceways, Wordelman has been splitting time racing a modified on dirt tracks.

Wilson came in second, McCoy in third, #79 Jeff Webster came in fourth and #01 Michael Hale rounded out the top five.

Hale currently sits atop the Maverik Modified points with 661 points, #4 Lynn Hardy is in second 171 points behind Hale. #00 Tyler Whetstone is in close third with only one point separating him from Hardy.

Additional Rocky Mountain Raceways ASA Weekly Winners include #66 Eric Rhead (Super Stocks,) #18 Daniel Calligaro (Hornets) and #13 Tim Fahrner (Figure-8 Cars) and #20 Train Shake Rattle and Roll (HR Equipment Figure-8 Trains.)

ASA Weekly Racing will continue at Rocky Mountain Raceways on Saturday, July 21 with the NAPA 125 featuring the anticipated return of the SRL Southwest Tour Late Models. ASA Weekly classes include Maverik Modifieds, Super Stocks and Focus Midgets. Fireworks celebrating Pioneer Day will follow the racing action. Gates open at 4:00pm, racing starts at 6:00pm.
