MADISON, Ohio -- The inaugural Avon Hertiage Duct Tape Festival is June 18-20, 2004. The Duck Tape Racing cars of Matt Zapp and Michael Beard will be on display at the car and truck show on Saturday, June 19. The show is located at the Avon Heritage School, 35575 Detroit Road, Avon, Ohio.
Matt Zapp drives the Duck Tape '67 Camaro, owned by his father, Bob Zapp. The small block Chevy runs in the IHRA Hot Rod category, in the 10-second zone at 124 mph. Michael Beard drives the Duck Tape '73 Dart Sport for car owner Terry Knott. Beard is the defending IHRA Stock World Champion, and recently won the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario. The Dart is an IHRA World Record Holder, running 11-seconds flat at 118 mph.
In addition to the race cars, hundreds of classic cars and trucks are expected to be part of the show, with 30 classes in all. Registration the day of show for cars is $10, from 9am to 12pm; Car Corral: $2; Pedal Car: $1. Awards will take place at 3:30pm, and will include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for each class, plus Best in Show, Festival Pick, Long Distance, Club Participants, Best Duct Tape Car and Truck. Dash Plaques will be presented to the first 200 entries. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and a Model Car Show.
Parking and Festival Entry are free.
Festival hours are: Friday, June 18th - 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm Saturday, June 19th - 10:00 am - 11:00 pm Sunday, June 20th - 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
