STURGEON BAY, Wis. -- For the second time this racing season Coors Light will be on sale Saturday night July 14 at Prestige Yacht Coatings Thunderhill Raceway for only $1, thanks to our friends at Kay Distributing.

Thunderhill is at the midway point of the season and every position at the end of the feature will be critical.

Algoma’s James Tebon is closing in on some elite company in the IMCA Modifieds. He’s currently leading the standings at Thunderhill and is 2nd in points at Luxemburg Speedway. Leaving him as one of the hottest drivers in N.E. Wis. He holds 4 feature wins at the Hill, the most ever won in a season is 7 by Kewaunee’s Eugene Gregorich Sr. With 7 point nights left, that record could fall.

Jeremy Wiitala of Green Bay leads the standings in the IMCA Stock Cars for the second week in a row. Wiitala could become the first driver to hold titles in the Bombers, Street Stocks and Stock Cars if he can hold on to that point lead. Union’s Troy Munch sits 2nd in the standings 3 back, with Algoma’s Dave Bouche 3rd just 5 behind.

Its hard to believe that with all the features Randy LeMieux Jr. has won, he has never scored a track championship. The Sturgeon Bay driver is back a top the standings with a slim 1 point advantage over Green Bay’s Jarred VanLaanen. VanLaanen also an accomplished driver, is still looking for that first title as well. Sturgeon Bay’s Bernie Reinhardt sits 3rd in the standings 7 markers back. Reinhardt holds titles in the Bombers and Street Stocks. Last weeks feature winner Kelsey Hayes of Sturgeon Bay stays in title contention matching her car number sitting 9 points back. Hayes is also eying her first title. Hayes becomes only the second female to score feature win at Thunderhill. The other being Julie McDermid in the IMCA Modifieds.

Defending 2011 Wisconsin IMCA Hobby Stock Champ Tom Brumlic of Denmark still leads the standings only losing 1 point to last weeks feature winner CJ Weckler. Both drivers are looking for their first track title. Although it wasn’t a feature win, Appleton’s Brittany King made it a girl power night as the rookie picked up her first career checker flag in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. She is piloting the former Brandon Peterson track champion Hobby Stock.

East Maplewood’s Dennis Weidner keeps plugging along week after week finishing in the top 5 on a consistent basis. He started the season holding just a 1 point lead over Sturgeon Bay’s Marvin Denny. Now that lead has grown to 9 points over Denny. With influx of new drivers and the nights winding down its anyone’s guess who will score their first track title.

Joey Scoon has been unchallenged this season in the Feisty Fours holding a staggering 34 point lead. Scoon is a former Rookie of the Year.
