‘Start the Car,’ Travis Tritt to Headline NASCAR Pre-Race Concert

LOUDON, N.H. -- Known as country music’s outlaw, Travis Tritt will bring his mix of bluesy Southern rock and country to “The Magic Mile” as the featured pre-race act for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series SYLVANIA 300 on September 23.

Travis Tritt was one of the leading new country singers of the early ’90s, holding his own against Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Alan Jackson. He was the only one not to wear a hat and the only one to dip into bluesy Southern rock. Consequently, he developed a gutsy, outlaw image that distinguished him from the pack. Throughout the early ’90s, he had a string of platinum albums and Top Ten singles, including three number one hits.

“We want our fans rockin’ and ready to go when it’s time to drop the green flag, so to add an act like Travis Tritt certainly provides the type of pre-race atmosphere we’re looking for,” says Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “We want to ensure that everyone soaks up every second of entertainment when they’re here. Travis Tritt ensures that we will make that happen come September.”

Including his Greatest Hits album, seven of Tritt’s records have gone platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); the highest being It’s All About to Change (1991), which is certified triple-platinum. During his career, Tritt has charted five number one hits, including “Help Me Hold On,” “Anymore,” “Can I Trust You with My Heart,” “Foolish Pride” and “Best of Intentions” – as well as 15 additional top ten singles.

Tritt has won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. He also has won four awards from the Country Music Association, and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1992.
