INDIANAPOLIS -- The Mopar USAC Western Midgets will head for Victorville (Calif.) Raceway Park August 19 and female driver Shannon McQueen hopes to continue her pursuit of a championship which would put her in elite company, since only four females have previously won USAC driving titles.

McQueen, of Tehachapi, Calif., is 73 points ahead of Nick Chivello Jr. in the latest standings after her fifth-place finish in last Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.

Frankie Guerrini of San Rafael, Calif. earned his initial USAC victory at Santa Maria, leading all 30 laps to beat fast qualifier Ronnie Gardner, Randi Pankratz, Cole Carter and McQueen. The win put Guerrini seventh in the series points.
